Short Bio

Professor of Computer Science at the Center for Informatics (CIn), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), in Recife (Brazil). He keeps active collaboration with several Canadian universities. As Adjunct Research Professor, he is with the Systems and Computer Engineering Department at Carleton University (Ottawa).

He is Senior Member of the IEEE, PMI's Project Management Professional, and a Brazilian Research Chair. He received his B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Paraiba (Campina Grande, Brazil) and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE, Recife, Brazil) in collaboration with the University of Ottawa (Canada). He has held a Post-doctoral fellowship position at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He has published more than 140 papers in major scientific journals and conferences.

He has been serving for several scientific journals, such as the IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, Computer Communications, Computer Networks, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Wireless Networks, and the like. He is also in Technical Program Committees for scientific conferences, such as IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE WCNC, IEEE CCNC, and the like.

His research interests include Performance Evaluation of Network and Communications Systems; Internet Traffic Measurement, Modeling, and Analysis; Cloud Computing, Network Virtualization, and Software-Defined Networking; and Applied AI / Data Science / Machine Learning in Network Management
